Using git latexdiff

allows using “latexdiff” between two git commits
the help section git latexdiff -h is useful

example command that worked for me while diff-ing

 1git latexdiff --bibtex \
 2 --ignore-latex-errors \
 3 --ignore-makefile \
 4 --prepare "make clean && sleep 5 && make -k all && sleep 5" \
 5 --whole-tree \
 6 -o diff.pdf \
 7 --append-textcmd="Comment" \
 8 --append-textcmd="LComment" \
 9 --append-textcmd="title" \
10 --main paper.tex <old-commit> <new-commit>

--ignore-makefile ignores the existing makefile
instead use --prepare to run make/generate the required files
--bibtex shows changes in bibliography
--whole-tree checks out entire git tree in temporary directories
--append-textcmd="<command>" allows latexdiff texts formatted by custom <command>s to be diff-ed

I had to convert a few figures and tables written in LaTeX for a poster. Converting the figures (in eps/pdf formats) was easy and could be done with dvisvgm. To convert tables into SVG, I first created PDFs of the tables using the standalone LaTeX package, then converted them to SVG.

Steps to convert an eps file to svg using dvisvgm

1dvisvgm --eps file.eps --output=file.svg
